Keywords:
Otomycosis, Fungal otitis external, Primary Health CareAbstract
Introduction: Otomycosis, also known as fungal otitis externa, is a disease with worldwide distribution that has a high incidence in tropical and subtropical regions. Due to treatment based on pharmacotherapy and periodic cleaning of the ear canal, this pathology is fully capable of being treated in Primary Care. Objective: This report aimed to highlight the importance of Primary Care in the diagnosis and treatment of a case of otomycosis. Case presentation: A case treated as a spontaneous demand in a Family Health Unit in the city of Campo Grande – MS was described, relating the actions carried out by the health team with the tools and attributes that Primary Care uses to achieve resolution. Discussion: After two months of instituting pharmacological treatment, associated with ear washing and health guidance on self-care, a complete resolution of the case was achieved. Final considerations: Primary Care, when equipped with technical competence and with basic conduct in the attributes, is resolving in cases of people affected by otomycosis.
