Abstract

The present article deals with the antecedents of the creation of the School of Public Health “Dr. Jorge David Nasser”, from the Secretary of State of Health of Mato Grosso do Sul, articulating them to  the  beginnings of the State’s political-administrative history, when, in 1979, the government of the new federated unit is installed and the first Regionalised and Rescentralized Course of Public Health accomplished, through an agreement bet ween the ENSP – Fiocruz and Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. Also reports on the author’s experience as a teatcher from the first to de seventh course, responsible  for the health and society module, in the period from 1979 to 1990, and as student, of the V class, 1988, year of the creation of the School.
